What a fun weekend it was! On Friday morning I headed to East Kirkcarswell, Southwest Scotland, for the Wickerman Festival! The festival has been running since 2011 and established itself as ‘Scotland’s alternative music festival.’ It is one of the most diverse I’ve ever been to. I was positively surprised to see the festival being a family event and that apart from an exciting line-up, including Scissor Sisters, Texas and The View, there was plenty of entertainment for all ages.
With hundreds of musicians playing in different tents and stages, there was a lot to discover! Many talented artists also performed in the Solus Tent and it was also great to see new Scottish acts touring with the goNorth Festival, which has become an important event in connecting new artists with a broader audience. Scissor Sisters gave a fantastic and full of energy show. Ana Matronic, band’s frontwoman, admitted that Scotland is the band’s favourite place to perform. Though Texas might not be my favourite, it was great to see them performing Say What You Want and Summer Son live.
On late Saturday night, the festival concluded with the traditional wickerman burning! What a show!
