X-factor winners Little Mix seem to be taking a leaf out of the Spice Girls book. Perrie Edwards has been kind enough to give herself and the rest of the group their very own special band nicknames, just like the iconic Scary, Posh, Sporty, Ginger and Baby.

So, let me introduce you to:

  • Swagger Mix – The novelty nom de plume Jesy Nelson has been landed with. Is it just me or does this sound like some kind of confidence boosting energy drink. “Are your friends getting all the attention? Is no one taking you seriously? Have you lost your mojo? Well now you can get it back with a can of Swagger Mix – Guaranteed to have you strutting through the club like a true diva!”
  • Cutie Mix – Another christening triumph. Jade Thirlwall must be delighted to be on the receiving end of such creative and original naming. I kind of suspect that they may have had a whole team of marketing professionals (or monkeys) working to come with this magnificent moniker.
  • Fiery Mix – Ah yes, of course, the group needs that aggressive dominating tough girl. And with Scary and Fierce already spoken for Fiery must have felt like the natural choice for Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
  • Boz… sorry, Boho Mix- Perrie’s rather unusual name for herself. I’m not sure whether this is two words which have been crashed into each other, like Brangelina, or if it’s an adaptation of the famous clown name. Either way it seems like an amazingly appropriate alias.

Even through this gruelling in-depth naming saga the girls have managed to keep the bonding going. Although I am a little worried that Jesy, sorry Swagger Mix, may be taking it a little far. In a recent interview she gushed:

“We want to be internationally successful. The important thing is that this is not just a two year thing. We want it to last forever. I can’t live without these girls.”

Yep, that doesn’t sound at all needy, stalky or obsessive. Although, if I was in the band I might be tempted to do a little research on how to get a restraining order.

The girls could well be set for international success as Simon Cowell is said to be keen to groom them to be the next Spice Girls. It might just work too; people do say that pop is very formulaic. Combining the X-factor formula with Spice Girls formula could turn out to be a very potent mix.
