You can’t deny it, so don’t deny it: his songs are pretty addictive and he’s pretty cute. In fact, we can think of at least three reasons besides music why Bruno Mars is awesome. Before we get into that though, lets have a quick run down of the cheeky little chap (and when I say little, I do mean little – Bruno Mars is a pint sized 5 foot 5, but that’s doesn’t bother me because I’m only 5 foot 2). The Hawaiian born star came from a musical family and started singing and performing at an early age, which leads us onto the first reason why Bruno Mars is indeed awesome…
Elvis Presley
6 year old Bruno Mars appeared as an Elvis Presley impersonator in the 1992 movie Honeymoon in Vegas staring Sarah Jessica Parker. This made him the youngest professional Elvis inpersonator in the world. Yes I know: awesome. Bruno went on to perform a number of live performances and appeared in MidWeek. Here’s his cameo in Honeymoon in Vegas:
I think I wanna marry you
In the Gossip Fever office we’ve got two brides-to-be, so it’s safe to say that we get exposed to a lot of lovely dovey romantic wedding-y stuff. Unfortunately, sometimes we can’t pretend it’s yucky and horrible, sometimes it gets to us damn it! The song has inspired more than just cooing girlfriends and spluttering fans; it’s inspired real life love stories.
Flash mobs are brilliant, flash mob proposals are even better. It’s like ‘Marry You’ was made especially to be used for this purpose. There’s a couple of things that we love about this Down-town Disney proposal.
- This guys can dance!
- His sheepish face when he realised he has to join in.
- His girlfriend getting pushed into him when he’s about to propose.
We ♥ Diversity
An artist that is inspired by several music genres is bound to have a more exciting album. Bruno has listed his inspiration as stemming from reggae, rock, hip-hop and R&B among others. All his released singles have proven his diverse mix of inspirations and that’s one of the reasons why we were utterly delighted to watch him perform his new single on the X Factor last weekend.
We absolutely love it when artists perform perfectly live. Not only can this boy sing and dance but it looks like he just LOVES what he does and he looks so natural performing. We’re also totally digging the red suits, synchronised dancing and doo-wop inspired song. You can watch his fun performance here.
