Fashion

Have you been busy at all the events at New York Fashion Week? Well then you’ve probably missed out on all the exciting news off the catwalk. Don’t worry though, we’re here to keep you up to speed with everything that’s happened since last we spoke.

10 years of Rimmel and Kate

It’s been 10 years since Rimmel hired Kate Moss as their spokesperson – a remarkable fact given the model’s decision to remain mostly mute. A helicopter flew Kate into the ceremony at the abandoned Battersea Power Station in London where the also helped to promote the make-up giant’s range of lipsticks. Also in attendance were  Georgia May Jagger, Sadie Frost and Cher Lloyd. A-list or what?

Mary Kate and Ashley for doubles

For a brand, it’s all about diversifying and conquering new sectors. That might explain why everyone’s favourite twins have signed up to be creative directors of Italian tennis shoe brand Superga. The new shoes will be co-branded under the twins’ own label The Row. Steve Madden, who owns the North American licence of the brand, tapped the Olsens having seen them wearing the shoes. It is thought they have the power to quadruple sales in the area.

Stella turns 40

If you’re famous you don’t have to worry about getting old when you can surround yourself with the world’s most beautiful and famous people. Stella McCartney celebrated her 40th birthday this Tuesday at Asprey House, London with Bono, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Kate Moss and, of course, Sir Paul McCartney all in attendance.

Save Dahl’s hut

Former model Sophie Dahl has begun a campaign to restore the shed in which her grandfather Roald Dahl wrote his fantastic works of children’s fiction. She is hoping to raise a staggering £500,000 to pay for archivists to restore the interior and move it to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre of which she is a patron. The hut has been mostly untouched since the author died 20 years ago and contains all his notes and his favourite items, including a huge ball made from foil sweet wrappers.

Cheryl shares shoes

Is there nothing this woman can’t do? Oh right, make it in America. She’s over that, no need to bring it up, she’s pursuing other avenues and one of them is shoes. The successful singing star is launching a line of footwear through Stylistpick. She’s “overseen” rather than designed the range but that requires eyes and the ability to nod.  The new line is set to launch this December.
