Fashion

Have you been out being fabulous all week? Well maybe you missed out on the latest fashion news. Fear not, we have your weekly fix ready for you now.

Have you been missing Alexa Chung?

She’s back, she’s single and she is dressed to kill. What better way to get over a break up with a rock star than launching your latest fashion line at Madewell. The Chanel Ambassador (how many diplomatic incidents are Chanel involved in?) was sporting a new haircut as she walked through Manhattan’s Lower East Side earlier this week. See what you are missing now Alex?

Twiggy is making  a musical comeback

Its amazing to think that models have skills beyond just standing, walking and looking gorgeous but Twiggy has been making sweet music since 1976. Her new album features a number of love ballads and it titled Romantically Yours. The musical masterpiece will be released through EMI on November 21.

It’s all about the 1960s

This is the news we have all been waiting for – Banana republic has launched a new range of clothing inspired by Mad Men.It’s a 65 item capsule collection so you can spend your days (and maybe your nights) dressing up as Betty Draper. These objects of desire include floral dresses, leopard print purses and chic scarfs. Expect the sixties revival to continue as even more 1960s period dramas come onto our screens.

A good taste in clothing

A Leicester fashion student has made a dress out of empty crisp packets. Of course anyone who has eaten the contents wouldn’t be able to wear it but the result takes sustainable fashion to a whole new level. Rebekah Kirkland, 23, stitched together hundreds of wrappers to make the garment for her end-of-year project. Each square is stitched three packets deep to ensure that they don’t rip. Looks comfy.

Glee Stars come out for fashion

In anticipation of Fashion’s Night Out in New York on September 8, the cast of Glee have released a video. Appropriately it’s a cover version of David Bowie’s 1980 hit Fashion. The cast look a lot more like their real ages as they pose in their designer labels.  The event is now in its third year and takes place at venues across the city. Expect all the big names in fashion to be there including Miss Piggy as she prepares to launch a new Muppets themed range with nail polish giant O.P.I.
